Finally able to tolerate broth and scale issues

Recommended Posts

Ok! So it's been 5 days since surgery 12/27..I had only been able to do crystal light, ice pops and Water sparingly..today I finally had chicken broth! I will begin adding protein-although whey Protein gets me nauseous-someone recommended Soy protein. I finally able to tolerate more oz of liquids at a time. Jell-o was not even going down! Stocked my shelves with oatmeal and yogurt ready for Wednesday. I'm not seeing the scale go down though...however even if I hold a large item it tells me same weight. Go figure! Lol I'm thinking its best to wait for my doc apt for that?! I'm going to go nuts though unless I see that scale move. I keep thinking this WILL work it can't right???

At my 1 week post op visit last week, their scale showed a weight loss of 19 pounds. My scale showed a weight loss of 12 pounds. I'm trying to only weigh myself twice a week so I don't go crazy on those days nothing happens. It will work if we do our part. You are, so it will work!

I just ordered some soups! I have to add Protein somehow! They haven't gotten here yet! I will keep you posted on them!

There are many high Protein Soups you can order from my bariatric pantry and others. For example, Tomato Soup (15 G protein), chicken Soup (12 G protein)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
