Disneyland 7 months post op? Good or bad idea?

Recommended Posts

Thinking of taking a vacation this summer. I will be around 7 months post op. Will I be eating most foods by this time just in small amounts, or will I still be having to watch what I eat carefully? Should my activity level be back to "normal" for me ? I don't want to invest in a Disney vacation and be miserable because I can't find appropriate food, or I can't keep up with the family.

I went to Disneyland over Christmas I was sleeved on 11-13-12 so pretty new still... We had a great time! But there are no good food choices there!! I brought my own shakes and food and we rented a locker. I only had one meltdown while the kids and husband ate 0_o But as soon as I started drinking a Protein Shake a calmed down.

Oh and yes I got tired at the end of each day! The park opened up at 8 and closed at 12 am! We would go in the morning leave in the late after noon, rest at the hotel eat dinner and then go back after and stay till closing.

7 months post op most definitely go to Disneyland!! You will find something to eat there and if not pack a couple of Protein Bars just in case :)

I've had a annual pass to Disneyland for years, so i can help a little with the avail food choices. There is a place called Bangel BBQ--- pretty much you can get meat and veggie skewers. I feel like that's the safest bet when I'm there and watching carbs. I am due to be sleeved in Feb, so I don't know how your energy level will be by then- because honestly Disneyland is quite exhausting especially in the hitter months. However, food wise I'd think as long as you have some Protein Drinks on hand or Protein Powder to add to avail drinks you will be fine. There are fruit carts, yogurt, and even restaurants that have mashed potatoes and yummy low carb salads. Just depends on what you can tolerate by then.

I went to Japan at 7 months out and had a great time. It took longer for my energy to return (I was tired for first four months), but by 7 months I felt great. I took Protein powder and a shaker cup, and beef Jerky.

You can drink Protein shake in the morning and another at night if you are having a hard time getting Protein in while on vacation. If you have a hotel with a fridge, those little cups of greek yogurt and great and convenient too. Also, light cheese sticks, low fat salami, crackers, little cans of v-8, and applesauce cups are all good choices for the hotel room.

Have fun!

Lynda

Something I forgot--- you will be walking MILES so if you splurge on a little something you'll have no reason to feel guilty! Just stay hydrated;)

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
