All of my December sleevers...

Hi, I'm back. I don't come here often because when I see others that have lost a lot more than me, it makes me feel discouraged. That may be selfish but it is how I feel. I know everyone is diferent and all that stuff. JMHO I just passed my 6 month mark, going to wls for weigh in today as a matter of fact. Also, just got back from a family vacation---took my Protein Shakes and pushed the Water. I was surprised to see a 2 lb loss upon our return. I want to start couch potato to 5K. Maybe I can check in more and support anyone that needs it and maybe even get some motivation myself.

It can be discouraging when it does not come off as fast as we want, but as long as it's still coming off, you are doing great! I see others who lose more than me too, but I remember it's individual, and I just accept it, because I'm doing all I can. As long as it continues to keep coming off, I'll be happy! Keep up the good work, and you'll get there!

Congratulations on your continued success!! Glad you got your blood drawn, but what did they draw that takes weeks to get back? Most of the stuff related to Vitamin levels and metabolic function take a matter of hours to run, and the results are back in the office the next day. Just curious - maybe I need one of those tests, too, lol! How many calories are you eating every day? I've found that if I'm at or below 800, I have no energy. Funny, I don't feel hungry like I used to, but I can still tell it's probably not enough fuel for me.

Wow I can't lie there was a list so long on the prescription pad i couldn't even begin to remember it all but I will say this I Recall Vitamin-C, B-12 and Calcium.. Lol thats all I can recall but it took 8 tubes of blood for me to do the test. So I wish I knew but On the prescription it said Gastric Sleeve Fatigue on it lol.. All I know is the nurse said some she will get back fast and others can take time.. As long as she covered every corner that's all I care about. And my food intake varies dramatically I can be as low as 450 or so to as high as 1100 but thank you for the input maybe just maybe I need to mind my calorie intake more and keep it high enough to feel fueled so to speak.

I don't know anything about the logistics of why blood needs to be drawn at a specific time. Maybe they told me to go a week in advance because the lab they use is slow. I only went one week in advance of my appointment, though...not weeks. As for calories, my surgeon's office has never given me any calorie guidelines, which was frustrating when I kept reading about other people and their calorie guidelines. That being said, I am sure that I am around 1000. Right after surgery, with the Protein Shakes and Greek yogurt, I was averaging between 600-800, but I would think that most people at 6 months out need more (calories/fuel) because our exercise is burning through more calories. I suspect that some people are losing the weight by sticking to low calorie plans but are not working out as much. But, I am working out quite a bit, so I think I am justified in eating more and eating more carbs....although the surgeon (as I said before) really wants me to get in more Protein at this point....I will try (to do what he wants).

I flew yesterday for the first time since surgery. So nice to not worry about sharing a seat with a stranger and having my thighs infringe on their space.

Next time I need to remember to bring Snacks. I meant to bring some cheese sticks but forgot. There is not much healthy available in an airport.

This week will be a challenge visiting people that aren't used to my eating habits. My mom made a casserole for dinner. She said "well you said you eat chicken". She forgot that I also said I DON'T eat Pasta. Oh well. I can always pick out the chicken to eat and offered to cook the next meal.

My diet allows 1/4 cup pasta but of all the 'real' foods I am allowed, pasta is the hardest to digest so I avoid it. I miss chicken noodle Soup.< /p>

We recently did a biggest loser contest at my company and 77 people lost almost 800 pounds.... I was wondering what our total since surgery would be if we added it all up.

I will start I have lost 80 pounds since 12/26/12.

In a few days I will total it and I bet we have lost a few thousand pounds as a support group.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
