I'm down from 275 to 167 this morning. I want to lose at least 8 more lbs to reach normal BMI. I have been bouncing between 170 to 166 all month.

Hello I have a question for this group...

I am 154 pounds now ,I have a normal BMI...and only need 7 1/2 pounds to go....I am 5'7 ....

my weight loss is a snails crawl ....sleeved Dec 26, 2013 ....I think it's because my body thinks it's in Maintenance ...which is bound to happen when I get this close to goal...

My question is ,what is a good calorie range should I be in to maintain. ..currently I eat about 1000 to 1100 calories...protein 65 to 70 ...carbs 100-130 (a little higher than I like...but fruit is killing me )

Highest weight 296

surgery weight 264

Today 153.6

Patty

I don't know the answer for you for maintenance since I'm not there (and have a long way to go) but I think it's sort of trial and error. I've learned that if I want to lose, I need to eat less than 900 calories. My loss has slowed too, and I think it's because there are days I'm higher and because I have less to lose. You could use one of the TDEE calculators for guidance, but I suspect that you would be able to eat somewhere around 1500 calories a day (on average) to maintain, but you will learn what your number is. I think for me, I will probably need to stay at 1200-1300 to maintain since I've been blessed with a very slow metabolism. :) I have a question for you - Do you think you need to lose that last 7 pounds? I also want a normal BMI, but I'm starting to wonder if that should really be my ultimate goal. I'm also wondering if I'll ever get there, and I don't want to think of this as a failure if I don't. Anyway, congrats on your FABULOUS success!

Surgery weight - 268

Today - 171

Total lost - 97

Feeling great. Progress has slowed quite a bit. I tore my ACL so haven't been able to do as much or as varied cardio as I'd like. I started the physical therapy yesterday and the physical therapist is hot so I'm going to get back on track with exercise and have something nice to look at while I do it. That is looking at it glass half full :). Strength training has been amazing and i actually have tone and some muscles. Im enjoying dressing my new body. I bought size 8 pants and cant remember ever being that size as an adult even at my thinnest. While I recognize that I have transformed and my body is smaller, I don't think I truly see myself the way I look. People say I'm "thin" and I just don't connect that word with myself. It is strange. I feel like I'm a "normal" weight lol. I couldn't be happier with my decision. I feel more active in life, more confident, and just more joyful. Glad to see all the progress everyone else is making!

I'm fairly small on top, too. I wear a medium, or a 10. I'm in a 14 on the bottom.....but I know it's going to keep coming off proportionately. I also wish it would just come off the bottom!

Hey everyone just checking in on my fellow December Sleevers... I'm wondering how everyone is feeling knowing we all about to hit a year.... I don't know about you guys but I still feel a whole lot of restriction I spoke to a friend of mines that is a few years out and she says she can get in about 12 ounces at this time.. I'm still very stuffed at 5-6 ounces depending on what I'm eating. with meats 3 Oz stuffs me but with yogurt I can get in 5.3 with slight discomfort and 6 ounces is pushing it. I still dont drink and eat together... I still stay away from bad carbs.. What are you all doing almost a year out?

Hi! My restriction is still pretty good too. Dense meats like steak, chicken, pork and shrimp I can do 3-4oz. Ground beef, fish and crab about 2-3oz. I still mostly stick to Protein and 2-4 bites of veggies but every once in a while I might sneak in a couple of bites of potatoes or Pasta. I have 14 pounds to go until I meet my personal goal. 4 pounds to meet my Drs goal and am LOVING my sleeve.

I still have a lot if restriction too. A 6 oz Greek yogurt is my limit. I don't have room to drink for at least an hour to 1 1/2 hours after eating. I'm supposed to snack to get all my Protein and calories in but then I have trouble getting all my liquids in.

Just when I think I can eat more, I get a reminder that I can't. My nose runs when I reach my limit. Anyone else have a "tell" that they are close to full?

This is what my nutritionist sent me when I asked a similar question.....

Hi Stephanie,

You should probably be at 700-750 calories to begin with, 90-120 grams of Protein, 30-40 grams of carb would be okay (just make sure you have less than 15 grams of sugar the rest form more complex carb), 30 grams fat. Every month or two, I would suggest increasing your calories by 100, protein always 90-120, carbs to 40-50 (at goal to begin with then increases as you get below your goal weight by 10 grams per 1-2 months and never more than 80-100 at maintenance) and less thn 50 grams of fat at maintenance. I would try and stay at 20-40 grams of carb until you have a BMI of about 22/23 as I think that would be the ideal weight to get down to.

I swear my doctors office was very little help in this area I have not seen the nutritionist since my first post op appointment and that was only because I complained about the fact that they gave me a diet for post op lap band people and not post op vsg people. I have done all my dieting on my on. I was never given a goal weight by my doctor or even a restrictions list.. He actually encouraged me to go back to food if it didn't fit in one sitting lol, I mean don't get me wrong I have yet to walk in there without results but heck I did this on my own. I did my own research and gave myself a goal they asked me what my goal was and I told them and they were happy with my choice in goal.. I swear at times I wish I had a more professional group. I guess they give you the help when they see you failing but since I have done good from day one I didnt get that additional help..*shrug* .

So. I'm trying something new this week. I have been using my fitness pal daily since June 2012. My original goal was 150. I'm at 145 now so I decided to see how I do without the crutch of mfp for a week.

My nutritionist said that those that continue to chart their food do better in the long term. I'm not giving it up for good but want to feel like I can survive without it for short periods of time.

Keep us posted?? My goal was 150 and as of last weekend I was 154 so as scary as it is I'm moving into maintenance mode soon.

So. One week of no myfitnesspal and I lost a pound. I'm using it this week to see how I do back on. I'm also going to work with a personal trainer this month to work on some strength training. I get enough aerobic exercise but I don't like strength training unless someone makes me do it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
