What was the cost to stay at the Marriott Hotel per night, if I decide to stay extra days? Also, I dread flying from San Diego to TN. Has anyone had a long flight after surgery?

You'll want to check with your coordinator on that.. they can arrange an extra night for you and you'll get a discount and get the broth/water room service for free. Alternatively, You could check out of the Marriott and stay at a SanDiego hotel that has free shuttle service to the Airport.

I had a long flight after surgery (flew to Boston) I stayed an extra night though I think I would have been fine without it. Still it was nice to know I had the extra night booked since you never know how you'll be feeling after a major surgery!

I flew from San Diego to Denver and then on to Winnipeg in Canada. The hardest part was from the gas pain from holding it in on the plane.

Has anyone in here heard about infections back in June of 2012 at Mi Doctors Hospital? Or about blood thinners given in the muscle instead of fatty tissue. I am concerned about this.

This is not Dr.Ismael Garcia that this forum speaks about but it is the same hospital. Did you have a blood thinner administered in the fatty tissue or muscular tissue in the lower abdomen?

Could someone tell me their experience right before surgery what takes place? Do they give you sedative before you go into the surgery room? I have had surgery before but I was out before I got to the surgery room. Researching!

I wasn't injected with blood thinner anywhere. Nor have I been during any prior surgeries in the USA.. I'm told they administer one during surgery, but no injection.

Also as far as infections go... I'm sure that there are some MiDoctor patients who do suffer from post-operative infections, but I have not read anything relating to an outbreak at this particular hospital that would lead me to believe that their post-operative infection rate is higher than any other hospital.

The anesthesiologist came up to my room and talked to me and answered my questions. I felt very comfortable with him. I was wheeled into the surgery room in a wheel chair and I got up on the table. The anesthesiologist was very reassuring to me and next thing I remember I was waking up in recovery. I was not administered any sedative prior to going into the operating room. BUT I never asked for one either and the anesthesiologist could see I was quite relaxed and not concerned about being wide awake going into the surgery room. You can talk to the coordinator and she'll get more information about if you can get a preoperative sedative or something.

I had surgery on the 18th with Dr Cabrera. I can't believe how easy it was. I had very little pain at all. The only pain I had was from the drain. As soon as the drain came out I was and have been completely pain free! I flew back home to Alabama on Thursday (after shopping at the outlets half of the day) I told the airline that I had just had surgery and I got priority boarding and got to sit up front where there was a lot more leg room. Overall I had a great experience and would do it all over again in a heartbeat!

I went to the outlets right across the boarder. We left TJ early that morning and our flight wasn't until 4pm so we shopped until around 2 and then took a taxi to the airport.

I am having surgery with these doctors next Friday. 3 of my friends have had theirs with them through Medical Tourism and all great things to report! Anyone else headed for surgery in Tijuana next week?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
