After all this time i have not followed the rules...Drinking while eating is absolutely derailing my progress.

Old and new bandsters, remember if you are washing the calories down then you are defeating the purpose!

Now I have to rely again on my self discipline to not do this!:bandit

Bobby, I know how easy it is to fall into our bad habits and not stick with the new habits! Grrr...lately, I've had a sweet tooth and I just need to knock it off...

How many pounds to go until 205? Good luck.

Shawn

I'm bad about this. I drink while eating all the time. Part of that is my indication that I need another fill. But another part is - for me, it makes no difference in the amount I eat. So I figure - why not. :)

I can not.....absolutely CAN NOT drink while eating. I instantly PB. And sometimes I want to drink so bad!!!!! I have even wanted to drink so bad that I get a mouth full and spit it out. Sad, huh?

But, Bobby, if you keep yourself accountable and keep working at it, you'll succeed. I know you will!:P

I was really bad for drinking while eating in the beginning but for me too, it caused PBing. I find that if seat myself for my meal with no beverages nearby then I will make it through the meal without drinking.

This is a very strange practice for me because I'm so use to always having Water, wine, milk, or whatever with a meal. But.....for the good of the band and losing this horrible mess of wobbly bits around my middle and on my ass, I will do (or won't do) it.

You can do it Bobby. It really is worth it and not that bad. Once in a while I will have a sip but it is very rare.

My fellow Bandsters: PLEASE don't do this.

I made this mistake at first, also. I didn't think it was making a difference, since with a band I was still eating less than I did before being banded. So I thought "It's OK."

Wrong! :omg:

This is a hallmark of possibly not being very filled. And we can all lose some weight while not being very restricted. That's the interesting thing about the band.:straight

But once you get real restriction - drinking after eating is just not going to work.

Not because it makes you a "Bad Bandster" or because it's a No-No :P (I mean, who cares?) but because once you get closer to your "sweet spot" of fill, it's no longer possible.

Learn from my mistake: Remember once your band is well-filled you might just not have enough room to do more than sip after eating... That pouch gets full fast when you're well-restricted, and it will let you know when you overdo it! :phanvan

Try not to drink while you're eating, even if you can do it. It just makes it harder to do banding, even if it seems harmless at first.

Take it from me, folks. I've learned the hard way. :rolleyes

Thats what I love about this site. People who have experienced these things. My Doc, and his support staff, (Dietician) can offer advice, but bottom line, they are not banded. Drinking while eating, (Not drinking) was my biggest hurdle too. Its tough, and no one understands unless they are banded. Hang in there and don't set yourself up for failure. I looked at, and reminded myself that I put myself through way too much, physically and monetarily to not do what I needed to make it.

15 months post op

Not drinking with meals isn't to keep you from eating too much...it's to keep the food in the pouch longer so you stay satisfied longer. I think you need to get a fill to help with the amount of food you can eat.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
