I feel like I can somewhat relate. I'm not so sure my family is unsupportive, they just get quiet when I mention it. It bums me out because I'm really excited and i went them to be excited for me and they aren't. My husband is very supportive though so that helps. I know how much you want to have your family support you but they may not until after your surgery and they may not even then. But your verticalsleevetalk family will always support you! Message me if you just need to talk, vent, cry.. anything!!! :))

The best part is when I opened the front door and she has a half eaten cookie hanging out of her mouth while trying not to spill the rest of the tray!!

OMG, this is *totally* my mother! That's why I didn't tell her.

I'm not married, and my Mom has to stay here with my 3 year old so I can have the surgery. I will more than likely be going alone, and that really scares me, but I'm a strong person and I can do this! Reading all these motivational stories is what keeps me from going insane! :)

I am going alone also to Mexico. My Hubs can't take off work. Well I have a sleeve buddy but we won't be flying at the same time, just meeting up in mexico. I understand the being sared part cos I kind of am too but I've said it a million times and I'll say it again lol I'm gonna die skinny or im gonna die trying :) cause I am so just sick of me. You said you have a child? Then stop worrying about what other people think, I know that is easier said then done but you do this for you and your child. Nobody else really matters love.

You're right. I can't help but think of the bad things that could possibly happen though... I have read a few complication stories that have really made me think long and hard about this. It's a stressful decision for sure

Not to be blunt but fear is an anchor holding us down, we gotta let that **** go!!! Bad things could happen anywhere in the united states. Bad things can happen if you never even thought about having a surgery. Nobody knows their destiny. You do what you have to do for you and your baby and don't let fear hold you back anymore!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
