Protein Powder Mix

Hi everybody. I start my pre op diet on Jan 1. I was online looking for reviews of different Protein powders to find out which was the best tasting and I realized something (you might already know this). Buy unflavored Protein Powder (I have some left over from a previously failed diet this year). And buy different flavors of crystal light, propel, etc. flavored drink mix. Mix those things together as a cheap way to experiment with what you like instead of purchasing expensive flavored protein powder you may not even like. I'll be posting on what I like and don't like when I start my pre op diet on the 1st.

Ok guys, its day 6 of my pre op diet. Someone told me it will be as hard as you make it out to be, and it is so true. One reason is that Protein Shakes, in my opinion, are not good at all. I've had to put more flavored drink mix than the intended serving per 8 ounces of Water just to knock out the taste of the Protein powder (unflavored). So right now I am blending crystal light classic orange flavor with my protein powder. Its not that bad. Also, I like sugar free hot cocoa mix. You won't taste the protein at all with it, and its good. Don't heat it up! Protein powder clumps up when its hot, and it's so gross. It tastes fine cold.

Really enjoying Big Train and Chike. Both available online and recommended by a bariatric RN.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
