Surgery is scheduled for tomorrow afternoon and I am freaking out. I thought I would be super excited and I'm not! Did anyone have these feelings?

If you didn't freak out that would be unusual. You will be fine. It is all worth it in the end. I almost walked out of the prep room IV and all.

I was freaking out too. Just keep focusing on why you are having the surgery. AND make sure you pee right before surgery - so they don't need to use a catheter. I'm glad they gave me the option to pee or have the catheter.

I'm still a few weeks out, but I will be extremely nervous when I kiss my kids goodbye to travel to Texas for surgery. My only two fears are leaving my kids without a mom or bankrupting my family due to a leak that is not covered by Tricare, because I am self-pay.

I'm self pay as well... I have a lot of trust in my surgeon! He has had only one patient with a leak in 7 years of doing. I can just pray that The Lord gives everyone in the room perfection!

I wouldn't say I was freaking out, but definitely extremely nervous. Everyone at my surgeon's office was like, "Are you so excited?" I was like thinking, no, not really...I was focused on the procedure itself and the recovery- not the most fun or exciting thing. Two weeks later I am happy I went through with it. Good luck- you will do great, it's a very safe surgery!

Hey! I was nervous up till the morning of surgery! I actually had a breakdown and just thought do I really want this life changing surgery? But thinking about the amazing stories I've read on this forum I got super excited! Just following the per-op diet! First day I woke up wasn't bad, day 2 was horrible, today is day 3 and I'm up walking around reading all my books to much I'm keeping hydrated!

My surgery was Dec. 6 and I was really nervous as well. I kept telling myself that this was nothing compared to the c-sections that I endured for the love of my children. This time I was going to do this for ME!! I was worth the recovery pain as well.

Glad to hear your surgery went well and happy healing!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
