kpaige77 49 Posted December 30, 2012 I've had a horrible productive cough since thurs night and been running a low grade fever since yesterday. Called my surgeon and he says nothing sounds related to the surgery but more like I've caught something. Possibly bronchitis or pneumonia. Figured $20 copay is worth making sure my lungs are clear. A little paranoid that all this coughing will cause a leak. Anyone know if this is possible? Feeling super week. Only getting in about 1/2 c Tom Soup mixed with Water and about 32 oz water with apple juice added a day since Friday. Can't keep milk stuff down so my Protein shoes are making me gag. Kapoorvilla 117 Posted December 30, 2012 How far out are you? It has been said on here the staple line is sealed in most everyone by day 21. Did your surgeon seemed concerned? I am glad u r getting checked out please keep us posted. Pray it is just a bug of some sort.
MeMeMEEE 206 Posted December 30, 2012 Make sure to tell the urgent care you feel dehydrated too and maybe they can get you some fluids. I hope it isn't surgery related.
kpaige77 49 Posted December 30, 2012 I am only 12 DPO. My surgeon didnt seem concerned that it was sleeve related. I was just swabbed to check for the flu and the doc that saw me said my lungs sound likecrap. He said the flu and bad chest colds are bad right now so he wanted to make sure. I suppose if itstheflu I get tamiflu but either way he want me on albuterol. Do u know if this is okay to use? I would guess so since I've read of a lot of people having asthma who have vsg
jis2blessed 14 Posted December 30, 2012 It sounds like you and I were sleeved the same day and I have had coughing and sneezing as well but not where I felt I needed to be seen by dr. It hurts and I too was worried about doing damage but it's probably really unlikely. I am getting a lot more in than you though so maybe it's due to your illness. I am able to get most of my fluids and Protein in. Hope you're feeling better soon and I'm sure the albuterol is absolutely fine.
kpaige77 49 Posted December 30, 2012 No flu but have either bronchitis or pneumonia or possibly both. He gave me a liquid antibiotic, a cough Syrup for nighttime and albuterol. Hopefully that helps fast. Really nice guy. I told him I had just had vsg and he was very positive about it. I am a lower bmi so I've had lots of "input" from people who have no idea what I've gone through being fat for the last 15 years
lilbearzmom 584 Posted December 30, 2012 I was coughing up gunk for like 3 days after surgery- I didn't have a cold or anything- the dr's office told me it's normal after being somewhat inactive for awhile. I didn't get a whole lot of walking in- I slept almost the whole time I was in there- could not stay awake! I also caught a lil something a few days after I got home and coughed quite a bit- and I am OK. -Kendra
