Sleeved on July 30th and I've hit a stall. I haven't even lost an ounce in over a week. This whole month I only lost 9lbs. I'm getting really discouraged and it's aggravating because I feel like I'm not where I should be at this point. Unfortunately my gym membership is no longer affordable so I can't sweat it out. Does anyone have any effective workout routines I can do at home or a little advice?

Hi Karissa,

9lbs in a month does not sound like a stall, especially 5 or 6 months out. You didn't mention how much you've lost or how much you have to go but it sounds like you're doing fantastic. I'm only 8 days out and I know one of the evil inevitable stalls is in my future. I've read many many posts on here that suggest upping your Water is great way to kick start things again....

Good luck!

~Dana

ONLY 9lbs?? That's a good loss at 6 months out! I never join gyms cos i can never stick with it. Walking ... running .... swimming ... team sports? Mix it up with some weights and toning exercises too!

KK,

First thing I would like to ask is please fill out your profile. Whenever I come across a post like this the first thing I do is check the posters profile so that I can get a non bias perspective. Your height , surgery weight, current weight, and date of surgery all come into play when running calculations.

Believe me, running the numbers really helps. Especially once you reach the end of the "honeymoon phase". It sounds to me that you have moved into the second phase of weightloss. I lost over 80lbs in my first 5 months now, 2 months later I've managed to lose an additional 15...... Did you catch that? 15lbs in 2months. That's 7.5lbs/month. It's all part of the process, we simply cannot continue to lose at the rate we started. Remember when we started this journey we were told the average loss is 60-70% in the first 2 years? Well, I bet if you do the math, you are way ahead of that curve. It's time now for your body to slow down a bit. Rejoice in how far you've come, & the fact that you are still losing.

Which way was the scale moving last year at this time?

KarissaKhaos ,

It is cool that instead of just complaining of a stall you are looking for action to defeat it. Good for you.

I don't belong to a gym, when I did I did not go enough to justify the expense. For me, home based workouts do the trick. None of the... it's too cold, nothing to wear, car's out of gas, too crowded there today, etc. excuses.

I walk and run around the neighborhood throwing around a 20 pound kettle bell. I do push-ups, squats with weight, bodyblade, stretchy tubes, and occasional swimming in the pool, (Florida). My kids keep me going with marathon walks at theme parks and shopping centers which are numerous here in paradise.

I think about the timing of turning it up a notch. This is a lifetime commitment for me so I am in no hurry. When the exercise gets too easy, I put on more weight or more or different exercises. I also vary my routines to keep the body off balance.

I have stalled at 2 pounds over goal for 2 months now but I haven't stalled the fat loss. The belly is going down and muscle cuts and ribs are showing up. Muscle is going on, fat is going off. The scale can kiss my rock hard backside. :D

Hello,

I was sleeved on July 23rd I have slowed down. I was dropping a pound a day or a pound and a half and now around and about 10lbs this past month. When we first start there a lot more weight to come off, which is why is comes off faster. I like zumba, you can youtube full workouts and trust me they work you out! lol..I am actually getting into the P90X. I am not sure if they are on youtube as a whole workout but its more for toning which is what I am looking for. Those arms and thighs lolol. DON'T GET DISCOURAGED!!!!!!!! you're doing awesome! try a youtube video a few times a week and se eif that jump starts your loss.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
