Hi all!

I am 6 weeks post op and am having serious troubles with the chewable viatmins. They taste terrible and I don't know how much longer I can handle it. Does anyone know when I can start taking Vitamin pills? I am allowed to take my meds in pills form, but I wasn't sure about the Vitamins.< /p>

Thanks for your help!!

Nora-I feel your pain on the chewables. I actually vomited for the first time today within 2 minutes of my Calcium chewables. I took them too fast to get it over and done with and paid for it. I'm going back to the Gummy version I had pre-op and just chewing like crazy. But you might want to try that route if you can't do pills.< /p>

They are peach, grape, cherry, and orange flavored... So far I have taste peach and grape.. I just hate the chalky after taste. They really did give me a energy boost.. I been feeling like blah the pass few days and these helped.. I'm going to ask my doctor can I switch to gummies on my next doctors appt .. Hope I helped

I tried and tried to deal with the Bariatric Advantage chewables but the taste just made me gag. Tried Centrum and they were also vile. I eventually gave up and bought gummy vitamins :P

As soon as I could eat regular food I went back to my regular Vitamins and didn't have a bit of trouble. And mind you, I take 6 solid Vitamin pills. Good luck. If anything I would try one and see?

Thanks for all of your help. I have spent hundreds of dollars on different Vitamins and it's getting a little old. I have some pills here. I will try one and if I have a problem I will give the gummies a try.

Thanks again!!!

I'm ten days out and I only use pills, no chewables. Your stomach is fine to absorb them. (:

It's funny but not- I feel like I have spent that much money trying to find a Protein powder I like or that I am not sick of! It's tough!!! ;)

Omg! Story of my life. I've bought like 15 cases to try. And at least 5 kinds of unflavored whey Protein. Yuckyuckyuck.

Nope, just get a mouth of Water, pop them in and swallow! I then again, take pills backwards compared to most people. Haha.

Just take a break between different pills. Don't stack them up in your sleeve.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
