Blending soups...

Recommended Posts

Is a hassle! But it's really good in the end. Today I blended up some canned French onion Soup, and it was delish! Just feel silly for having to dirty a big ol' blender for my measly little portion. -__-

Just don't be freaked out by the freaky texture. It's not broth-y after you blend it. It's heavier. But I'll see that cream of potato!

Teri do you like Tomato Soup? I am a HUGE Tomato Soup person, always have been. The problem is that most all of them have so much sugar that my NUT says it may make me sick. I found that there are some Soups in the organic aisle that come packaged in the little box containers that had about 50% less sugar than anything else I've seen. I got one that is tomato and roasted red pepper and i can't wait to try it! How much longer are you on full liquid? I have until Jan 7...

Omg! I bought a sweet potato soup that was in one of those little boxes! I can't wait to try it. I kind of like tomato soup, I just don't really like the texture. But! If you blend the French onion, it's the same consistency as tomato soup. So you might like it! :3 I haven't had any problem with sugars. Or anything actually. I'm doing splendid. But I'm on full liquid until the 6th! I cannot freakin' wait! One week from tomorrow.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
