melvytx 19 Posted December 29, 2012 I was one of the unlucky few that experienced hunger from early on. Reading the boards, I gathered it was just acid. After taking 3 different types of acid medications, I ruled out acid. My appetite is still smaller so I'm content with the hunger I guess.

Lisa'slosinit 147 Posted December 29, 2012 do acid reducers help with the hunger pains?? i have acid reflux and have a script for prilosic but dont take em like i should !
melvytx 19 Posted December 30, 2012 I thought the hunger hormone was gone as well. I guess it depends as my mother-in-law had surgery three weeks after me and has no hunger at all. The acid reducers do not help whatsoever with hunger unfortunately.

It's all new 453 Posted December 30, 2012 Hunger and acid are very easily confused. If you are feeling hunger it is more than worth trying different acid controllers. I did not lose my hunger after the surgery. However, it turns out I was also having major acid problems the whole time - it was a combination. I've been taking prescription Prevacid three times per day, thinking that it kept the acid under control. WRONG. Switched to Nexium and the hunger is not nearly as bad - not that it is gone. Also, if you are having hunger for specific things, that is probably head hunger. If you are hungry for something sweet, or salty... it's at least partly just a craving not true hunger. True hunger can be satisfied with anything - plain chicken breast works very well.
Jugee44 9 Posted December 30, 2012 I never thought that it could be acid related , I was starting to feel so guilty for feeling hungry , I have been really careful about the things that I eat but I don't want my weight loss to slow down. Thank you for the support
