TheGamer 406 Posted December 29, 2012 The whole point of the sleeve is that we can have other foods. While not ever eating them again is a choice, whatever you'd like to eat will not be denied to you forever. Even with the sleeve you'll still have to make choices about what you will and won't eat. Once you're healed and back on normal foods you can eat whatever you'd like. Focus on healing first, even though it's frustrating. I know while I was on liquids/softs I had a really hard time with it because it felt like I would never eat anything good again. Now, a couple months out, I can have a bite or two of whatever I want, as long as I'm focusing on my requirements first.
johnlatte 1,232 Posted December 29, 2012 Keep in mind that WLS is a tool, not the magic bullet. Take the time that you are on liquids to really take stock in what you have been eating. Think about how you got to where you were that you needed to take the big step and have the surgery. Yes, you can absolutely eat what ever you want at some point, BUT most WLS patients will gain weight back. Most don't make the necessary changes in their lifestyle to keep the weight off. You've made a big step, but are only at the beginning of the journey. Honestly there isn't one thing that I could put in my mouth right now is worth what I will achieve once I hit my goal weight. I made a deal with myself, that if I hit goal, I would live a healthy lifestyle both physically and otherwise. Meaning I need to purge the things out of my life that got me here in the first place. I know how easy it is to eat a bite here or a bite there, but in the long run you are not helping yourself. Take this time to build a whole new you! 1 Nicolanz reacted to this
