So, I think this takes an entire overhaul of your lifestyle.

That doesn't happen overnight and there is always some backsliding, tripping up and do overs. Even so, it is the keeping trying, keeping asking for help and support and being self reflective enough to recognize when you are drifting back to old, bad patterns.... seems to me you are doing that.

I have lost weight great with the sleeve, but there were a couple of months where my weight loss was only like 5-6 pounds. I realized I was heading for being one of those people who did "pretty good" but didn't really change. I picked myself up and have been kicking butt since about the Oct timeframe. I now truly believe I will make goal and I think anybody can do the same thing.

The thing that i keep reminding myself is that even when I weighed 300# I never gave up - I am bringing that same tenacity for keeping and improving my new fit body!

Thanks Quita for posting this thread. I haven't had my surgery yet (hoping for Feb/March), but it helps me see that the surgery isn't a quick fix for my weight problem. I have to make a lifestyle change. I've been seeing my physician the last few months for the insurance required diet and I haven't really been taking it serious. I just keep thinking that once I get the sleeve i'll be forced to eat smaller amounts and currently I'm not being forced to do it; therefore, I haven't lost any weight...I've actually gained a few over the holidays. I need to change my way of thinking. I'm going to sit down tonight and write all the reasons that I need/want the WLS and then I'm going to list all the habits and food that I need to "divorce". Maybe I should try a food funeral likes others have joked about. This June will be 3 years since I've had a soda. Not sure where that control comes from, but I know that I can change my lifestyle if I put my mind to it. I just need a jump start...I guess. Or a kick in the butt. Good luck Quita and take care!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
