Hello I am new here, but Jan 23rd I will be 6 month post sleeve opt. I am down, as of this morning 120lbs. I was reading the thread about feeling full. As you heal you will feel like you can consume more, BUT be carful with the drinking and eating. I am super rigid with myself with the drinking. Drinking too fast or too much in one sitting can stretch your sleeve out the same way food possibly could. Drinking is very important but take your tip and sip DONT gulp. That took me a long time to adjust to but i did experience drinking too fast and it was awful. Best wishes and keep up the great work!

Nicole-I definitely am sipping. To be honest I don't think I could gulp even if I wanted to. Anything going down too fast creates pressure and discomfort so I am hoping I am creating a sipping habit before I heal too much. I have been extremely careful about not drinking and eating anything at the same time. That is very different but not that difficult to get used to. Thanks for the advice!

Hi,

I know its easy to get use to, the discomfort helps lol. I saw stars when I took too big of a sip of milk. After that I sip sip sip lol... Trust me I use to drink a 16oz of Water or juice is one gulp. Sometimes I miss it but I remember the pain and discomfort. I was so nervous and maybe a tad neurotic that i asked my nutritionist to show me how to sip. lol... I was convinced I was sipping too much. I think alot of it is all in our heads and we have never been down this road before so its all new and new experiences! Happy sipping! lol

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
