While in the hospital, I went full liquids. Will have that for three weeks. Smooth will be two weeks.

wow.. lots of diversity between surgeons.

This was what distressed me the most post-op when reading and posting at his forum....which I only discovered the weekend before surgery.

Hello everyone' date='

This is my first post. I am 9 days post-op and just had my drain pulled out today.. Yippee, it caused a lot of pain and discomfort, on both sides of my stomach.

My question is I know that I should be on full liquids for a while, but my doc states 5 weeks as he is VERY conservative. When are most of you able to move to purees? I am not wanting to eat food but 5 more weeks of this seems crazy.

thanks.[/quote']

I was 9 days clear

One week full liquid

Next week I add mushy (so 4 weeks in full liq/ mush stage)

Then feb 1 I hopefully get cleared for purée.

I was never on liquids exclusively - my doc's plan is for liquids along with mushes and soft Proteins as tolerated for the first month, then most everything else as tolerated after that. His findings are that this aids in the healing process, much the same as their getting us up and walking around ASAP after surgery aids healing more than strict bedrest. Who am I to argue with their twenty some years of sleeve experience?

I was on clear liquids for one week post-op. Then 2 weeks on full liquids (which thankfully is over in 4 days). Then 3 weeks of soft foods before progressing to a normal diet. But as you can tell, each surgeon is different.

It is crazy that there is such a variety of opinions from doctors.

2 days clears, up to 1 week full liquids then on to mushy wet Protein as tolerated

My understanding is that the wait is to help keep u from getting nauseated and help promote weight loss but by no means should it hurt u if u move it up as tolerated some. Really if our sleeve us that fragile something is wrong or something wasn't done right in the OR....just sayin my opinion .

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
