Protein Shots

Recommended Posts

I seen those also and was wondering if they were okay. I haven't been sleeved yet. Suppose to be in January sometime, but I have been researching everything possible and found them on line yesterday. Good luck, and I hope you find out soon about the Protein Shots

So I am 5 days post-op and am having trouble with all liquids still. My Dr has me on clear liquids for 2 weeks and its hard to get Protein in on clears. Found some Protein Shots at a drug store with 25 grams. Anyone else use these??

DO NOT waste your money on Protein shots. They are completely useless. In my opinion, the people that make & market that garbage should be drawn and quartered, at the very least, they should be prosecuted.

The protein that is in these shots is collagen, also known as Gelatin. It is unusable by the human body. The only reason they get awaywith marketing this tripe is because the supplement industry is not regulated by the FDA. Any food that contains gelatin/collagen is required to state on the label "not a signifigant source of protein".

These say they are whey protein

Are you looking at the name, or the ingredients? Many Protein shot use the word Whey in the name. But they are prodomanantly collagen, a couple examples are "New Whey" , "Super Whey" , Pure Whey" , & "Super Whey". They are all garbage.

There is only one real whey protein shot on the market that I am aware of. It is called "Yes Whey" and it is sold only by Bariatric Advantage.< /p>

The ingredients is what I am looking at. They are Whey Protein Isolate, collagen Hydrolysate, and Casien Protein Isolate. The label just says Pure Protein.

I had my hopes up! Lol, I have a hard time drinking much of anything as of yet.

I am not sure about the ones you are talking about, but I was required to buy a vitamin/protein kit after surgery prescribed by my doctor. It had a bottle of "protein elixir" for sleevers who could not tolerate the shakes the first few days. Well, I opened it and sniffed and almost passed out it smelled so bad. I licked the rim and decided if I had to live on that I would just end up back in the hospital. It smelled so bad I don't see how it could be for human consumption. Thankfully, I was able to tolerate the shakes.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
