If you read my post yesterday you would know that I was feeling great! I felt great until the car ride home, we even had to stop because I felt sick. I havent actually vomited its just dry heaves, burping and spitting. When i got home I was so tired and sick that I laid in my bed. I woke up and walked a little ( like down the hallway a few times) and went back to sleep.my husband brought my meds homeI took my pain meds ( because i feel more pain then in the hospital) and started the dry heave/burping thing again. Then I took some zofran.

so Is it normal to feel this crappy from the car ride home?

would you be concerned about the dry heaves?

would you consider the dry heaves/ burping/spitting as vomiting?( as i had liquids in my stomach that didnt come out)

It is very normal, from my experience. I am so sorry you are going through this, but I did go through the sweats, heaves, and felt awful for a good week! The pain for me was also intolerable at times. I was begging for more pain meds during the night.

It DOES get better--slowly, but surely, and pretty soon, you will be bouncing around and will forget this~ I blogged about my pain (link below) and you can see the progression in just a few weeks in my energy. You wil lbe there too...hang in there-this is only temporary.

my dr. told me its very dangerous to be throwing up after surgery, see if you can get anti nausea medication. sure would hate to see you get a leak

I had motion sickness on the car ride home, I think that is nomal. My doctor prescribed meds for nausea when I went home, I didn't need them but would assume that most people do or he wouldn't have prescribed them in advance. It is a slow recovery process, but you will feel better. Hugs...hang in there!

I would let your doctor know. Zofran is the anti-nausea medication so you're covered there. However, again, I would let your doctor know as there might be something more you can do, or he/she can do.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
