smt216 29 Posted December 27, 2012 I'm 17 days post-op and I can't tolerate anything remotely solid. And it's weird because I'm not hungry; I'd just like to stop drinking everything. I did finally get some popsicles yesterday and that was wonderful I was just wondering if anyone else has had or is having the same issue? No soft/mushy phase for me yet. Any thoughts and/or suggestions are welcome! Thanks!!
cataro 39 Posted December 27, 2012 My Dr doesn't allow anything but liquids for the first 3 weeks to help prevent leaks and let my sleeve heal. Maybe your tummy just needs a little more time. 1 smt216 reacted to this

Any thoughts and/or suggestions are welcome! Thanks!! My doctor's office said we could move to the mushy food stage by week 3, IF WE COULD TOLERATE liquid-pureed food the first two weeks. But, if we could not tolerate the liquid-pureed stuff, they said to take it slow and listen to our bodies. Sounds to me like you just have to listen to your body and take it slow. Obviously if you get to more than one month post op and still can't tolerate mushy solids, that may be something that the doctor needs to fix. My doctor mentioned that if you get a stricture, it can make it hard to tolerate solids. They put something down your throat to loosen the stricture. It does not require opening you up...necessarily.
