Recommended Posts

Hi everyone I just had a quick question, im 11 weeks out from surgery and am lucky if i can eat 1/4 of a cup of food at a time im doing amazing with weight loss and everything but with only being able to eat such a small amount its pretty much impossible to get as much Protein as my surgeon would like soo my question is how much were all of you able to eat at like 2 or 3 months out, is a quarter of a cup not enough or am i normal and just worrying too much lol

I was sleeved on Sept. 10, so I am a little over 3 months out and that is about all I can do. About 5 bites and I am full....depending on how thick or dense the food it. My dr. told me that is normal and that at about 6 months I will do about 6-8 bites and then at a year I will be able to eat 3-4 ounces. He said then I will be maxed out and I should never do more than 3-4 ounces so I do not stretch my sleeve out. I'm curious to hear some of the other's advice. I know each dr. varies on what their expectations are. Good luck and God bless!

I'm having a problem, too with Protein. My doctor said no more Protein Shakes after Jan 1. He wants me on solid food only. I know that there is no way I am getting in enough protein with the little bit that I eat. Every once in a while I can pack in a good bit of food, maybe 6 oz, but that is not very often.

Today I had 3/4 of a piece of string cheese, 1/2 cup of low acid orange juice, about 2 tablespoons of saurkraut and maybe 1.5-2 oz of boneless pork chop. That's 11g of protein and 15g of carbs and 190 calories. I'll probably eat one more time today. I really don't feel like eating more. This may be partially the result of eating holiday food for several days in a row, but I'm dropping weight even with nibbling on a few treats. My next appointment is in two weeks and I know he is going to chew on me if I don't get it together somehow.

..and I'm 13 weeks out.

I am a little over 3 months out and that is about all that I can eat.. maybe even less if its dense Protein like chicken. My Nut has me eating 6 times a day.. 3 regular meals and 3 small Snacks otherwise I was only about to get in about 3-400 calories.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
