trying to figure it all out

hello everyone! i had my surgery on the 17th and was able to come home the next day. for the first couple days i was not hungry or thirsty and was struggling to get through the requirements. now my appetite has come back but im not really finding anything im supposed to have appealing. any suggestions on combating hunger? also it does not feel like im losing weight fast enough either. i weighed myself on sunday (with sneakers on lol) and seemed to have lost only 4 to 5 pounds...is this normal? i have several friends who have had it done as well and on their first week they have lost anywhere from 15 to 20 lbs which is way more than i have:(

I had my surgery on the 17 th too and have lost 7 lbs. it did not come off in the first few days. Only now that I am more active. I am having the same problem with palatability. Talked to nutritionist today and she said I could have any creamed Soup if I blend it. I'm looking to try that tomorrow and add milk for Protein. So I can get about 60 G protein from two shakes a day of nectar chocolate truffle which is bearable. Then hopefully some variety from creamed Soups.< /p>

15 to 20 in a week???

Not possible, I believe its usually about a pound a day but not even that mostly 15 to 20 a month.

Now I could be wrong but this is what I have seen.

I think you're doing great, no worries.

Some people weigh the same for the first few days to a week cause u got fluids in the hospital and that puts weight on. So if u lost any in first week that's great. Keep it up!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
