Fallenangel2904 494 Posted December 26, 2012 Every surgeon is different. I am about 6 weeks and was cleared for salads and grilled veggies at my 1 month check up. Check with your surgeon first though

Check with your surgeon first though When did you first start eating veggies and how were they tolerated in the beginning?

kpaige77 49 Posted December 26, 2012 They usually contain some very hard to digest foods, take up a lot of space in your little tummy, and contain little to no Protein. Eventually it will be something we can have but not a great choice this soon out. Maybe try a lettuce less salad with lots of protein. Do you like southwest foods? I have a salad i made for my family a lot before surgery that I can't wait to make again when I'm cleared for it. It's pretty high in protein. I can post it if your interested. Fallenangel2904 494 Posted December 26, 2012 Fallenangel' date=' When did you first start eating veggies and how were they tolerated in the beginning?[/quote'] I was fine with them but I haven't had a problem with anything I've eaten so far. I had salad after my one month- spinach salad with chopped ham and cheese and was fine. I chewed it very well at first to be safe and was fine. I've had broccoli asparagus and brussle sprouts as well and all was fine. Take it slow, one new food at a time, cook them very soft at first and little bits at a time. I love veggies so couldn't wait to have them back!
ozeedonkee 145 Posted December 26, 2012 I was told to just be careful with stringy vegies. Things like celery, broccoli stalks etc.
Lisa :) 231 Posted December 26, 2012 I'm almost 14 months out and STILL cannot tolerate salad....it's really the only thing I miss!!!
O.T.R. sleever 3,386 Posted December 26, 2012 My opinion is salads are fine, but, you need to spend a bit of extra time preparing them. Make sure everything is cut into tiny pieces, literally everythin in my salads are cut to the size of raisins or it is shredded. Also make sure to add some Protein to your salads. I love chopped chicken breast. At 5 weeks, probably 1/3 of your salad should be protein. 1 lessofmeismore reacted to this
kyllfalcon 768 Posted December 26, 2012 I've not had any success with lettuce and I'm nine months out. I will try shredding it as OTR suggests. I do really miss salad.< /p>
