It took me around 10 days until the scale started moving due to all of the fluids from the IV's. Hang in there!

I feel like I'm stalking you today! But i have to do something while everyone else is stuffing their faces :) when I got home from the hospital I was up! my stomach was huge! Give it time ! I was sleeved on 11-14 and am only 21 ponds down from then but oh well down is down some of us lose slow. I eat only what I should but its just the way my body works I guess. We just got back from three days at Disneyland and I ate nothing there!! But lost only a pound : / And walked for hours!! I have never seen that many people overweight and riding electric scooters! I know that I will not be one of those people because of this surgery even if it takes awhile

I have no doubt I will be one of those slow losers.... I know I just have to prepare myself for it so that I don't get too discouraged. And hey, 21 pounds is 21 POUNDS GONE. Congratulations!

We should start a VST Page for Slow Losers.... we could whine and moan and then move to encouragement!

I agree with everyone here. It takes some time to get that IV Fluid out of your system. I was up 20 lbs after 1 week in the hospital. I only know this because the discharge nurse weighed me on the way out. Decided not to weigh myself until week 3 and glad I did this because +20 is a bit depressing. Fast forward about 5 months and I am down 130 lb. As everyone says, do not weigh every day. You will be much more relaxed about the process if you hide the scale during the week. Breath, relax, breath, relax...

Lol!! My husband would love if I took my whining and moaning somewhere else!

Just wait until people see you a week or two later and look at you up and down like they were expecting a miracle !! Or the ones who asked every few days "how much have you lost now?"

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
