Did anyone have a catheter? I read through a few things and I saw that the dr required a catheter because they will record your output every hour...I'm so terrified of that!!!

I was sleeved on the 10th in the US and did not have a catheter, thankfully.

I didn't have one. My surgeon wanted me up and moving around as much as possible, including bathroom trips.

I'm nine days out, and I did have to be straight cathed the next day because I did not urinate on my own. I was up walking and stuff, but I just couldn't go. It was not painful.

Live & sleeved in NYC & I too had a catheter. Still got up & walked around with it. The also said they had to monitor my output. Annoying, but what are you going to do....

I had a catheter but it was put in once I was already knocked out and taken out before I woke up. They had to make sure I would get up to pee though or they were going to put it back in. I had no problem getting up and to the bathroom. Don't worry though. Catheters are not that bad.

4 days Post-Op and I did not have a catheter. I was totally opposed to it and discussed it with him ahead of time. He said he never uses catheters for gastric sleeve patients ( unless necessary for medical history).

I think not having the catheter actually helped me recover quicker because I was literally climbing out of the bed hauling the IV pole to the bathroom and hauling it back to the bed and climbing back up every 20-30 minutes ( I was on IV fluids).

I had a catheter just until I had passed the leak test. Once I was allowed to drink, it was removed. Frankly I didn't mind it!! I was able to sleep thru the night!!

Hi, desteney. Don't worry about the catheter, really. It goes in when you are sleeping and does not hurt coming out. I've had one a couple of times. Having one does not prevent getting up and moving around. In a way, it is freeing. You don't have to think about getting up to pee constantly. You may actually miss it when it's gone. I have also never had a urinary tract infection from one, so if you hear they cause them, it's not true for everyone. If you are prone to UTIs, any disruption of the system may give you one.

Good luck on your journey.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
