Penny, thank you so much for replying. Do you exercise? Is there something specific you do in terms of exercise that is helping?

I plan on losing about 80pounds and really would like to avoid plastics.

No embarrassing but no exercising yet but I've always been really active even at 301lbs..My cousin hasn't really exercised either. I think it all depends on how you have treated your skin through the years. Im 39 but have always used lotion & oil on my skin after showering.

I also have always been pretty solid. I exercised more before the surgery then my gym closed for remodeling. That's no excuse cuz I have a workout/tanning rm in my house!

That can definitely be a factor. I heard a toning cream from MaryKay is really good. I'm going to give it a shot lol

I have lost 76 lbs and no extra skin (yet). I think my arms will be an issue but hoping not. I run/walk 4 miles a day but recently started Crossfit to help tone and hopefully prevent extra skin. I am 39 and 6 months out from surgery

I do not have excess skin and have lost about 150 in 6 months. However, I have been a fairly active exerciser for the last 10 years or so. The reason my weight went up was not due to lack of daily exercise and lots of hiking year round, but rather from very bad eating habits (overeating, binge eating and eating so much junk like 5 large pizza pieces at a time, whole box of donut holes, etc). Exercising to the point of obsession could not touch my caloric intakes and replaced a lot of my interpersonal relationships and other forms of emoting. I am so happy of the person I have become after being free of the death grip food had on me physically and emotionally.

Did anyone here who started out with cellulite, a bulging belly, on their thighs and/or large arms?

I am 38, with genetically youthful skin (no dark stretch marks). I am fairly active (regular zumba and weight training) and I have 120 lbs to loose.

However, I am scared of excess skin.

I've lost 125 lbs in 6 months and I do have excess skin. Under my arms, belly and thighs. I don't exercise either but when I get home from work, I rarely sit till bedtime. Constantly on the run. I plan on having skin removal. My insurance pays 80% after weightloss. I would love to see some before and after skin removal photos. I don't mind the scars, but worried they won't take all the skin and it will still sag and look gross...defeating me having the surgery for more self confidence along with being healthy.

I'm down 85lbs total and don't have any excess skin... but I think if I push myself to lose a lot more it will become a problem.

Lotions and exercise definitely do help but remember that genetics also play a huge role! The elasticity of your skin caries from the next person regardless. Just like stretch marks, theres women that can have 10 kids, never use any type of cream or lotions and have zero stretch marks. Then there some that have one and stay greased up the entire pregnancy and are covered in them. Look at your moms, dads, sisters, brothers for more reassurance. Again, of course, lotions and toning exercises certainly help!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
