Hello everyone first of all I am so glad I found this group!! I was so alone for a minute but I have come to this group and have read so many encouraging and inspirational stories you all are amazing!!

Well I am 43 years old and weighed 253 before I had the sleeve done on 12/19 I have excellent insurance from my job!! So I met Dr Mckeen on 11/30 had 2 more visits and in less than 3 weeks had my surgery!! It all seems to fast I was finding myself in aww due to what would be next. I am now 235 pounds in 6 days this is amazing!!

I am on all liquid diet I started Premier Protein shakes 2 days ago and I am able to consume 22 ounces totalling 60 grams of Protein but I find myself feeling a little discomfort by evening time. Am I trying to hard??

Started my chewable vitamins yesterday Calcium, B12, and multi chewable Flinstones :) WOW I think the Vitamins are the best part this far!!

I see my doctor on the 28th let's see what he has to say!!

I just wanted to share my new journey with everyone!! And thank everyone for sharing theres!!!! I am great full for all your input and don't feel so alone!!

Thanks e everyone for your help!!

Welcome Rocio, your journey so far has been fast. Did you do a lot of research first, if you did not have time then use this site to get answers to questions. There is a search facility and lots of answers - you will find that the same questions come up on a regular basis. I would suggest that you look at the following to get started

3 week stall

Depression after surgery/buyers remorse

What to eat on purée/soft diet stage

If you do have any questions then just post them and you will find that there are lots of helpful people on this site who have lots of experience.

There is one thing I would urge you to do and tat is to take your measurements, you will find periods when the scale does not move and when this happens recheck your measurements and you will find you have lost inches.

Also claim this weigtloss journey for yourself and do not try to compare yourself to others and their weigtloss, you will ALWAYS find someone who loses faster than you and if you compare yourself it is easy to get down. Your body will lose weight at the rate that is best for you - keep on mind that your journey may take longer than you think.

Again welcome, this is a brilliant site.

Cathy

Cathy thanks for the info!! I had looked into the bypass last year but it was gonna be a 6 month process before the surgery so I got discouraged! A friend at work had the sleeve done in August and he lost 80 lbs I was amazed!! So he recommended me to his dr and here I am

I was so tired of diets that would only work for awhile then at a stand still I was ready for the change!!

I have learned a lot from reading other people's posts I really am enjoying this blog!!

My research was do e by my loving husband since he was more terrified then I was So we are learning together!

Thanks for the suggestion I am gonna go do my measurements now lol!!

Thanks for your kindness

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
