I'm baking Cookies for Santa with my kiddos and my mouth is watering. Literally. Cookies are my biggest weakness and I've done a good job of either staying away from them or keeping them out of the house.

Now there's about to be a whole sheet of warm, yummy soft cookies right in my face. I feel myself slipping for the 1st time since surgery.

HELP. CODE RED!

You can do it! If you truly don't want the cookie, don't eat it. Try drinking as much Water as you can so you are full and cant eat the cookie. Good luck! Merry Christmas!

I personally don't believe it's practical to never have another cookie, or bite of cake, or whatever sweet again. It's setting yourself up for failure, we need to learn moderation.

I agree completely. But it does depend on how far iut you are also. I ate a few Cookies and a few bites of cheesecake. To me that was total victory. Before I would have eaten half the cake. But I am 4.5 months out. At one month out I wouldnt have been able to do that even.

I dunno. Maybe Santa can be on a diet next year ad eat fruit. *shrug*

As for this year and temptation, if sweets are your "thing", then I'd not eat it.

In AA they say "one is too many and 100 is never enough." (Right? Something like that. I never went to AA, but saw it in a movie, and my mom goes) anyway. I can rarely just eat one. It's a slippery slope.

I did the same thing tonight but I ate one. It made me so full but boy did it start some mean cravings!

I'm 10 weeks out today and I just feel like its too soon to indulge. I'm not the girl who can eat one cookie and be fine. I eat a whole ROW of double stuft Oreos or the whole package of Girl Scout Cookies.

I'm also not resolute enough in my defeat of my food addiction. I DO feel like it'd be a slippery slope and I can't give myself permission at this point.

There will be a time in the future when I'll be able to have A cookie or A bite of cake, but I'm not there yet.

Thanks for your responses, everybody. Crisis averted. ;D

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
