special k or kelloggs liquid breakfast drinks

Recommended Posts

Are those breakfast drinks good for WL patients? I know I can have sugar free carnation instant breakfast but what about kellogs or the special k ones?

My dr and NUT says they're OK.

Ok good.. I don't care for the carnation kind but the kelloggs isn't too bad. But I didn't know because the carbs and sugars are kind of high.

Does anyone know is Ensure Clear is good? It has 9g of Protein but 130 calories.

Not heard of it before but premier is 160 for 30 grams so it sounds calorie to Protein ratio not so good.

I pretty much live on Premiers. Not overly sweet, great Protein and low carb. I looked at the Special K's but thought the sugar count was just too high.

The muscle milk light is good tasting also. Save the calories go with premier from Sam's club or muscle milk lite that you can find in many grocery stores.

Premier is awesome and very appropriate Protein and calorie wise.

I would not advise any of the drinks that contain sugar but that's a personal choice.

I looked at those Kellogg drinks today at Walmart. They have 25 grams of sugar, 25 carbs. That is a ton for a Breakfast drink! That is 1/2 my carbs and way more sugar than i like in a day.

i would stick to the premier or the EAS are good.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
