I have been here in the hospital receiving excellent care for a week. I am doing my very best to remain positive. But I admit I have my moments of regret' date=' primarily because I can't care for my 14 month of daughter. Mind posting some BEFORE AND AFTER photos as a reminder and source of inspiration?

Best,

Sannah[/quote']

Oh my gosh, do I know about regret and just wanting to be home with my daughter. I was so depressed during my hospital stay but every day I just had to keep thinking about getting better for her. I can't imagine how hard it is over Christmas but you can and will do this and you will get better in no time. Stay strong! And Merry Christmas!! (((hugs)))

Sannah' date=' Sorry I don't have any pic's for you as I just had surgery on the 11th but I want to wish you best of luck in your recovery and I'm sorry it's been such a rough road for you! I know not being able to take care of your child now is rough but you are doing this to be there for her later and later is what she is going to remember, not now. I have a 2 year old so I really do understand. <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' /> Also, for some easy (if not outdated) before and after pics you can check obesityhelp.com. I look a lot and everytime you go to it there are different pic's right on the main page. Hope you have an ok christmas and remember next year is going to be a whole lot better! Jen[/quote']

Thank you. Just adjusting to these stents. I have two in and it's hard. Thanks for supporting me. You are so right,my daughter won't member. I just want to be near her especially on the holiday. Short visits aren't enough. Happy Christmas!!

I can sympathize. Stay positive and you will get through this. I spent 38 days in the hospital and home on feeding tube. Each day you will make small strides that add up quickly. I got so tired of hearing it' date=' but it is true. I know your journey is rough.....YOU CAN DO THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!![/quote']

You poor girl!! 38 days!!! I am sorry to hear. Thank you for sympathizing with me. It's a tough place to be. I am my doctors first leak with a sleeve. Doesn't it figure? I am making the best of my time, but I have moments of struggling and being emotional. Thanks for being so bright and proving me words of comfort.

Dearest Sannah,

I'm sorry that ur having complications. I can only imagine having to fight off regret. I had times where I regretted surgery in the beginning and I didn't even have complications. :( I hope that u have a speedy recovery and that everything will heal up nicely.

Here's the inspiration part... The sleeve saved me. I was always a fairly active person before the sleeve, but I wanted to do so much more and my body was holding me back. I stopped doing things because I would panic that I'd get stuck in between two rocks when hiking or caving. I could no longer play at the lake on our boat with my family because I couldn't get out of the Water and onto the boats steps. I stopped riding horses with my youngest son. I hated going to sports events to watch my oldest play football or run track. It hurt so bad to sit on the bleachers without a back or stand for an hour and a half- forget it. I started missing good stuff. The list continues- Water slides, roller coasters, taking the kids to fair...

Now here I am almost 10 months later. I'm at goal and am considering losing 15 more pounds. I love love love that I have no limits. I can truly do anything that I want to. My family has to now keep up with me! ;) since being sleeved I have gone kayaking, indoor rock climbing, climbed to the top of the tallest waterfalls on the west coast of the US, and became a runner! I can run up to 20 miles. I'm doing a marathon in March! I enjoy my life! Think of all the things I can now do with my family. U will be able to enjoy tons of adventures with ur little one. Hang in there! Sending u hugs and positivity!

Sannah,

I was thinking of folks who are away from their family in hospital today and of course your banana came to mind :)

I am sure that this is a rather tough time. I did 22 days in hospital myself and it was miserable being away from my son. Not only that, the tiredness, from lack of sleep, constantly being poked and prodded, and the discomfort make for a hard time. I am tough as nails. I'm known for it and yet I turned into a babbling baby after the first week in hel...umm hospital. So I understand the "short visits aren't enough" etc. Fortunately your little one is small so she won't remember this, but you won't ever forget sadly. I have also spent two anniversaries and four Christmas's in hospital with my son, so I know it's not the funnest place (that's putting it mildly!) to be right now. We used to Celebrate when he would get out, which once was as late as March. Try finding a christmas tree in alaska in march!!!! LOL But we did and we had the only holiday party that didn't compete with the other holiday parties that year :)

It's not my goal to make you sad, but to send support and inspiration for your future. My surgery and the aftermath was hell, but the hell did end and I am now doing very well. I've lost half of what I wanted to (just a little more actually) in the three months since my last surgery and aside from a few concerns due to the treatments (damaged lungs and blood transfusions) I am over the hurdle of the repairs.

You are on your way to where I am, just a bit earlier in the process. I wish for you a very speedy recovery, cooperative stints, and a baby to hold in your arms soon!!!! Merry Christmas my dear!

I was really debating whether or not to take them in front of the tree, but wife said absolutly.

I'm 7 months out now, and less than 1lb away from having lost 100lbs.

Hope this brightens up your day a bit.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
