Soon to be Banded Nov 14 NYC

Recommended Posts

I'm from NYC, and I have made my appt for the operation on November 14th. My doctor is Marian Kurian affiliated with Lenox Hill Hospital. I'm excited but do have some worries. I'm worried about the tightness of the chest feeling. I'm confident that I will follow the rules. I guess its just last minute jitters. I have two toddlers 3.8 and 2.6 and they are a handful. I will take off about 3-4 weeks since my company pays my salary 100%. I hope this is the right thing. In my 20's I did lose 60 pounds on my own through my own diet and exercise. It was easier then because I was single. Now two kids later (and will not have any more) I find it difficuult to get motivated to lose weight. I've tried to go to the gym but the weight would not come off probably due to eating habits. I'm not an overeater I eat three meals a day but the wrong ones. I am looking forward to changing my eating habits permanently and hope the band will work.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
