Best exercise for busy mom?

Recommended Posts

I know walking is easy and almost everyone can do it. That's on the agenda for after surgery and I have some walk at home DVDs. I like then ok. It's a good enough workout but her voice saying the same thing over and over. "/

I'm thinking about getting a cellercizer or a treadmill. Do you know people that actually USE a treadmill for what they are for tho? I have a feeling I won't after a while. I dunno. Maybe I would. Sigh.

I have 6 kids, ages 11,9,7,6,3 and 1. I like to wake early to work out. What's good for beginners? I love cardio bit want to build up a lil muscle. I don't want Madonna arms, but just a lil something.

Whatdya think?

Wow, you are a busy mom. 6 kids!!! I have 3 and thought I was going nuts. Good for you!! I think the treadmill is your best option. At least once they are all asleep, you can do your thing and not have to go somewhere. I rarely actually make it to the gym except once in a while on my lunch break and even then it's a drive. I'm thinking about trying to take up winter walking/running - at least if it's above 25 out. I'm in New Hampshire though and the cold is just about to set in.

I, too, am a busy mom. I use the wii fit plus to work out. I love the yoga, and my kids sometimes join in.

Good golly... 6 kids?!?! You're nuts! lol

I think I'd skip the cellercizer. It just looks gimmicky.

Most important is to go with a plan you will stick to. Unless you live in a really hilly area, or the weather is really extreme one way or the other, you probably could forego buying something, and just get outside an walk, run or bike. You can probably get most of the kids in on this too. "We all go for a walk after dinner." Something like that. That's actually what I'm trying to get into. My kids are 7 & 9 and we've got a young Labrador. Trying to get us all walking daily some time between when I get home and after dinner.< /span>

I haven't been able to scan NUT lists, yet, but in seeing this post, I feel an affinity towards you because I have 4 kids ages 10, 8, 4 and 2....similar ages to your kids. You haven't had surgery, yet, right? I can't answer your exercise question, because I am a social exerciser and don't do well with DVDs. I prefer elliptical machines at the gym because they are easier on my knees than treadmills. It actually surprises me how many people prefer treadmill given how harsh they are on knees, but maybe I am sensitized because my mom has had two knee replacements.

A gym with free daycare has worked for me. Also, Walk away the pounds. Plus, Buddy w/ a neighbor for early jog, cycle, spin, or bike.

If the DVD is boring use your tv PIP feature and watch your favorite show while following the workout show.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
