Im 16 days post op and this pain on my left side is just terrible. I started feeling better around ten days but the last couple days my left side has been so painful. Is this part of the process, is this a pain experienced with a leak? I feel fine other then the pain... Ugh

Thank You ... They tell me to relax and it takes time so I will make sure I didn't just over do something.

Do you have fever or pain in your shoulder or am? Low fever is fever by the way....if you have this (heck I'd do it anyhoo...because your pain is not normal) you should be checked for a leak. An overly unconcerned doctor almost killed me by dismissing my pain. Make them take yours seriously.

Call your doctor! Aside from immediately post-op (like in the hospital), most leaks occur in the first 3-6 weeks following surgery and you are right in that area. It's easy for them to check it out and any doctor would prefer a false alarm than an unattended leak! IF the pain is new - you need to go in.

I was sleeved about 8 weeks ago and had a very easy time until about a week or so after surgery when I began having a pain on my lower left side. At first I thought I had just overdone it, but everyday it got worse. Much worse. Eventually, I called the doctor and was told that it was "normal."

It kept getting worse for another couple of weeks until one night in the middle of the night when I was literally screaming, hubby wanted to take me to the ER. I refused because I knew that it would have been simply excruciating to get in the car. Again, I called my doctor begging for reliefs. THREE days later when his PA called back, I was again told it was normal.

Eventually the pain subsided after about 3 weeks of pure torture. Maybe it was normal, but I don't think so. (I actually have a very high pain tolerance.) I'm still upset that my doctor was so non-responsive.

If I had it to do over again I would have been much more insistent that in fact something was wrong.

there is a gal named liz who followed my story and my doctors lack of concern. liz is now in the hospital and has been for weeks. she remembered my story and insisted on care when she felt something was not right. you should do the same.

After the first few days the only time I felt pain was when I was getting in and out of bed or some other similar motion, and it only hurt for the few seconds that I was moving. Like others have said, you should contact your doctor just to be on the safe side.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
