Loose Skin

Recommended Posts

Besides cosmetic surgery, is there any way to tighten things up? My tummy and underarms really need it but I don't want nasty scars from surgery if it's not necessary. Any advice or suggestions would be great!

I scrub my deflated belly with a loofah-type sponge thing to get off the dead skin and then rub it with moisturizer. I am going for elasticity. I think it is helping but I can't trust me, I've fooled me before.

My arms got flabby within the first 20 pounds I lost. I started lifting 3 pound weights, and I saw improvement and muscle definition within two weeks.

I now use 5 pound weights, and my arms look good if I do say so myself.

It might not take care of all the flab, but it can really help to lift weights.

I started out exercising and was doing well with controlling my loose skin. I've slacked up on the exercise and see a change. It's important to weight and strength train. It helps.

I've been lifting 20 pound dumbbells in each hand for my biceps, triceps, and shoulders. My advice is to lift heavy, with good form and build the muscle. The more muscle you have the more fat you will burn but do this gradually. I'm hoping to avoid bat wings by doing this :)

From the person with the old lady flabby as* arms... Toning is how I've started to get them under control. If you start lifting with heavy weights it will throw off your weight loss because muscle is heavier then fat. If you start with 3 or 5 pound weights this will help tone and tighten..then later if you wish for strength, then go for a heavier weight.

As for the skin being wrinkley... I lube up daily with a toner (jurgens toning) and also at night I use Palmers cocoa butter. I also use a sugar/salt scrub twice a week and rub all the wrinkley bits..In my mind it looks like its improving... Good luck :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
