Sick of sweets! Ugh :-/

Recommended Posts

I would have never said that it was possible but I am officially sick of sweets!! I have good tasting whey Protein that is nice and low in carbs and high in protein and I cannot choke the things down any longer!

I am at the end of my second week but I started drinking them before my surgery on 12/12/12. The texture makes me wanna gag, the flavor makes me wanna spit it out.. the only thing I want anything to do with is nice warm broth. I don't mind not eating and I cannot get enough calories or fluids going at this pace. Is there ANY savory Protein Drinks? Or perhaps a Protein Powder that is like Miralax clear and disolves in anything and is colorless and flavorless?

Go to Amazon and type in unflavored Protein powder. You will find several options. I dissolve it in my tea and coffee. I was the Protein Shake queen before surgery having a hard time drinking them now at 3 1/2 weeks out.

Unjury make unflavored and chicken Soup Protein powder. I've tried both and like them.

I haven't tried them all, but the unflavored Proteins I did try made me realize that "unflavored" did not mean "without taste". They reminded me of the smell of my hamster cage when I was a boy. Glad I like chocolate.< /p>

To those of you who suggested Unjury chicken Soup flavored... OMG I got my shipment of sample packs today and thank you thank you thank you!! This is WAY going to help get more Protein in! I saw my surgeon and NUT earlier this week and they released me to eat whatever I wanted (within reason obviously) and it's still like 2 tbsp at a time and only REALLY wanting to eat once a day.

I mean it still has that funky cheese smell going on but the saltiness of the drink itself FAR outweighs the smell. I just try not to breathe through my nose lol

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
