I'm 2 weeks post op and I feel like I can eat anything??!! I seen the Dr and he said I should start eating as long as I chew slow and eat soft foods...well...I had some mashed Beans maybe 1/3 cup....didn't bother me...no pain, gas nothing??? Then the next day I had some grilled chicken, maybe 2 tablespoons and the same thing....no gas, pain nothing?? And i feel like i can keep eating...i just dont because i dont want to strech my stomach. I never get that "food stuck in my chest" feeling that ive read about...or even throw up??? I must say in a crazy wierdo way im longing for that feeling so that i know the surgery worked!!!!???? But then this morning I was soooo constipated that I felt like I was going to pass out!!!!! I was on the toilet for about an hour...sweeting, heart racing etc.

My question is...how come I can eat and drink whatever I want?? I've been drinking 3 protien shakes with no prob. and @24oz of water....I have a feeling my Dr didn't cut enough stomach out???? Is this common or possible?????

I think a lot of people think this! Lol.... You are able to consume more softer foods, 1/3 of a cup of mashed Beans isn't much, and you mentioned two tbs of chicken that is about right, I didn't eat food at all till month 1.... So I'm not sure about two weeks out however the "stuck" feeling is awful and it's only when u eat too much I've had it happen twice and I learned my new Timmy's signs. Your certainly not eating too much. Hope that helps:) good luck!

I am 3 1/2 weeks out & I have been the exact same way. I was thinking that maybe I had too much stomach left too. I have been able to eat everything that I've tried. I have also been able to eat a larger quantity of food than I thought that I would be able to. I talked to my nutritionist & she said to add cooked vegetables. Now at each meal I weigh or measure out my Protein & I add soft veggies. It really helps & will make me feel full. For example I will have 1/4 cup off egg beaters & add cooked mushrooms. I was hungry with just the egg beaters, but with the mushrooms it is filling. Good luck!

Two weeks out your still so swollen and your sleeve is most likely numb... It won't last but be very careful with your intake during this time, until you can start to feel fullness again.

You're doing great by measuring!!!

:)

Take some milk of magnesia for your Constipation. It helps so much.

You should never vomit or have a stuck feeling this is not the goal. The goal is to have a satisfied full feeling. You are not eating alot and it is great to try new foods and have them agree with you. I have had no issues with any food that I have tried.

Increasing the amount of fluids you are taking in will probably help with the Constipation. My nutritionist specifies at least 64 oz. Also, there are some recent threads that discuss constipation. Try searching for them. You may get some good ideas.

lessof me is rite, i was like you, had no problems, could eat almost anything, then bang, 5 weeks and pain, ended up in the hospital for 4 days. no leaks, but i think we get worried when we can tolerate food so well and maybe over due it. thats what my conclusion is for the pain i was in. i still have pain and now have to eat much less, not that i really overate, but had no problem eating a small plate of carrots and mashed potato,s, now i,m lucky to get 4 bites in. it will kick in...................saddie

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
