week 3 post-op is time for me to move to pureed food.< /p>

mind you the holiday season and all the good food around and incredible urge to try it! A few times that I have allowed myself to try are not in pureed category and gave me such pain in my stomach and nausea/vomiting urges I wanted to just die!

I so hate this! I want real food even if it is just 5 bites! Cannot stand the Protein shakes!

UGH,,, why did I do this to myself!

You did it to better your health and to live a long time. I know it may seem like you will never be able to taste "real" food again, but you will. Food is not going anywhere but you will if you don't take care of your self. I can only imagine what you are going through but I feel your pain.... My turn is coming up on the 7th and I pray that I can get through the pain bc I know I need this. I am so tired of being unhealthy and too heavy to do a lot of things. All the aches and pain of being heavy is reason enough to make a change. Hang in there, it can only get better.... You can do this. Keep your head up.... I'm going to be on here posting soon and complaining as well... I am sure of it. You are NOT alone. Xoxo

I was at the 3 week puréed stage the week of Thanksgiving and I tosses my real food in the cuisinart and ate with everyone else. I even had curried goat and it was sooooo good. I only wanted two bites though bc even after having it puréed it still took too long to chew. However it was nice to taste it and decide for myself that I didn't want anymore as opposed to telling myself I couldn't have any.

I treated my purée stage like I did my baby's purée stage. She ate what we are, only blended. No baby food for her or me.

Luv2liz: I am 3 weeks out also. I have felt the same way you do at times. I promised myself before surgery that no matter what happened I would not regret doing this. It was my choice and mine only. In fact my husband did not want me to do it. I did it to get off of the mega amounts of insulin I was on. My sugar was fine at the 2 week mark but has progressively gotten higher and is so high now that I will not heal properly. My endo put me on a different pill and it doesn't seem to be working. I see insulin in my future again and this makes me very sad. But I will not beat myself up, and will keep on trying because that is all that I can do.

So keep your head up, smile and keep on going. I hated the Protein also so I got some powdered Peanut Butter. One TBS mix in the shake takes that taste away. I'm sure you know what taste I am talking about.

How about shaved turkey and ham? Eat it very slow and that is so good. I also added cheese but now I am constipated so I wouldn't do that now.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
