Home remedies for Nausea?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Hope you guys are doing good. Need your advice on something...

I went out for dinner on Thursday night with some friends from the office. Had chinese food (dragon chicken). Guess it didn't sit well. I've been feeling nauseous for the last two days. I dont think it is stomach flu or anything -- and I'm staying hydrated, no fever or stomach cramps. I'm not throwing up anything, but I'm sliming pretty bad whenever I eat food. So I decided to go on a liquid diet this weekend. I want to clear out my stomach and colon by this weekend, coz I'm working on Monday :(

I looked for some home remedies online and everyone suggested ginger tea. I've been sipping on that for the whole day - it is working ok. I munched on 3 pieces of saltine crackers (wholegrain) mid-day. Other than that, I havent had any solid food.< /p>

I just wanted to ask you guys if you know of any home remedies for nausea.

Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I live in India and I'm not sure if we get that brand. But I did try Domstal (baby dosage) - an anti-nausea tablet that contains domperidone. Didnt do much. I'm still feeling a bit sick when I eat (or in this case, drink!). The only thing that is going down well is the ginger tea. :(

Ginger is my miracle nausea cure! And lemonade seems to help settle my stomach, too.

Try staying away from dairy for a few days, too, that may help. I hope you feel better!

Thank you all for the replies! I tried lemon juice + honey. That and the ginger tea helped a lot. Feel better now, but still staying on a liquid diet today too. Will start having small meals tomorrow. Thanks again! :)

A drop of peppermint oil on the tongue is what we use. Works great.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
