Down 123 in 6 mo but getting concerned..

Recommended Posts

Yes, I am very proud of being down this much...I went from a 26W to 14R Levis this week. From 338 to 215 today.

Heres the concern..when I stress lately, I crave chocolate. I have never really had a craving for any type of chocolate. I would be fine with one candy bar a year....if that. Now, seems like when I'm stressed to my limit, I want everything bad for me...cokes, chocolate, cupcakes, etc.

I know I don't need to have theses items but at times , I feel I have no control over it especially when I see some type of candy left over from holiday parties or what I have bought for the rest of my family.

Any suggestions? I am still losing but I know this is why it is slowing down. I can tell I've been under so much stress lately, my depression is getting bad again. It was getting so much better I was going to ask to half my meds again...two more halves and I'm off the medication. Wellbutrin.

How do you handle the stress and cravings for sweets? Could my hormones be changing due to the weightloss? I've had a hysterectomy but never been on hormone replacements other than trial and error the first few months after surgery. I have always been fine without them.

Also, TMI.....my sex drive is slowing down again. It was up for a while but seems to be down again. I think it started low because of my weight, now its low because of the excess skin- How do I deal with this.. I set my first goal for 190...but I want to change it to 150 when I reach 190.

Any advice is appreciated.

Hi! Do you cook? I just saw chocolate Cookies made out of miracle noodles. Do a websearch. They sure look good!

My thoughts are yes, your stored fat could still be releasing hormones...but I'm not an expert. It could also just be the holiday stress. What if you put away all your expectations for losing weight over the holidays? Just try to maintain? Would that make things easier for you?

Good luck!!

That might be a good idea...try to maintain for a while. I do cook but usually just meats for my son and husband. I do have high expectations for myself. I'll try to look up the cookie recipe...Thank you

Treating yourself to a small snack every once in a while is nothing to worry about. Now, I am certainly not saying to eat a candy bar everyday...in fact, I'd limit it to maybe a piece of chocolate a week. Dark Chocolate is very good for your heart and blood flow, so try that to curve your cravings. Less guilt. I am 10 months out, and 4 lbs away from my final goal of 155 (down from 325). Initially, I set my goal for 175, then passed that, and went to 165, now I am 159. Right now, I just need to tone up, and the other 4lbs will fall off. But I am still losing...lost 8lbs last month. I have treated myself on occasions. Just keep your head held high, and keep focused!! The holidays will give you that mentality of wanting the goodies!!

I am new to this only 2 months post op but I have been having these cravings also. I started drinking a chocolate Protein shake like Premier's from costco. It takes my craving away and I don't feel like I'm cheating with candy. Whenever I tried to eat chocolate it makes me bloat. I'm sure in a few months I will be able to eat them. But for now this is working for me. I hope this helps..

wls friendly recipes web site has a whole bunch but its a bit of a blitz to read them all and think you might not go over board, if you did use these be careful and choose wisely what you want and do.

I'd not want to be the catalyst for bad things,

Hi Angie-

How I handle it is if I am craving it I have a piece! Simple as that. I didn't have this surgery so I could never eat anything but lean meats for the rest of my life. It's so I can eat what I want, but in moderation.

If I am craving chocolate, I have a small piece, and appease my craving. If I am craving pizza, I have 1/4 of a piece, and be done. I've lost 95 lbs in 6 months since surgery, 120 total.

And google about hormone release with weight loss. Your body has so many crazy hormones going through it now, you're going to have such highs and lows for a very long time until your body regulates! They affect sex drive, depression, mood swings, anger, everything.

You're doing awesome, keep up the good work. And craving things (even things you never craved Pre-op) is nothing to freak out about. Now if you're to the point where you're choking down 2-3 full size candy bars a day- that's a moment for concern! Lol but you seem to be far from that! :) be kind to yourself, take a deep breath and enjoy your weightless and new found life! :)

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
