Pre-Op Shave

Recommended Posts

im a hairy beast. im getting sleeved feb 25th. now im worried about the dressing changes lol

My entire belly was shaved for me while I was knocked-out (I would have cried had I had to do it myself, LOL). No dressings either, they used surgical glue to close me up!

i was sleeved on wednesday. they shaved my stomach while i was under, and they left my happy place alone. no external sutures, just steri-strips. not sure if they used any dermabond.

do not shave unless they ask you to do differently. More than likely they will shave the area a little bit with an electric razor that will not cut the hair right at the skin because that can cause ingrowns around the site and infection.

I was disappointed they left my happy place alone. It's out of control really, haven't seen it in years - I would imagine it could have used a trim...jus' sayin'! B)

Psh, you women act like we don't manscape already, cmon! The only thing, completely shaving down there makes me feel like I'm 12 again, kind of weird. But a trimmer gets everything done up nicely, haha. I may take my electric razor and hit my stomach, but I already don't have much hair there anyway, ha.

Sleeved April 30th 2013. I was not shaved, in fact my incision sites are glued and stapled. Everything looks great and I am ready to have these staples removed tuesday morning.

I am really hairy, so before I went in I cut it all off with clippers, but didnt shave it completely. I thought they might shave the incision sites, but they didnt do anything. My mom works in surgery, and she insisted that they dont like it when people shave themselves, because they can get knicks that can get infected. Thats why I used clippers instead of a razor.

Waxing would solve that problem.

:P

Uhmm.... My doc said shave from nipples to knees. He left out the part about skipping the nether regions. Wife sent me in to get a men's brazillian wax. Couldn't have been smoother down there but unfortunately it was unnecessary. That said I think every guy should get waxed down there once just to be able to relate to what the women do.

I'm 6 days post op. I didn't think anything about getting shaved until I saw this post. I look at my incisions at least 10 times a day...however it wasn't until today that I realized they shaved me. I guess that could explain the itching

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
