KarissaKhaos 170 Posted December 21, 2012 Has anyone here had it? It was confirmed that I have a narrowing of the distal portion of my esophagus. My endoscopy is this morning at 8 and I'm a nervous wreck. I can't sleep and I'm worrying too much. If it's not as scary as it sounds can someone please calm my nerves? What can I expect? AussieLady 521 Posted December 21, 2012 Usually you are asleep for this procedure, so it's not scary at all. It ably takes a short time so they use a fairly mild anesthetic. You'll be fine, don't worry.
KarissaKhaos 170 Posted December 21, 2012 I'm more worried about afterwards, I've read articles that say that it's almost certain that vomiting and nausea occur after the procedure and I'm already miserable enough so I don't want to deal with that either. AussieLady 521 Posted December 21, 2012 That hasn't happened to me but my best advice would be to get some rest. Try not to think about the worst, just take it as it comes. Good luck. Would love to know how you go.

mokee 588 Posted December 21, 2012 Have had a few in my lifetime and never had any consequences from it.
KarissaKhaos 170 Posted December 22, 2012 So they ended up finding nothing, told me I had a stricture but then they didn't find one, so the scope ended up stretching my esophagus a little and my discomfort is gone. Glad it wasn't as bad as they thought. 1 abetterme4.2 reacted to this

KarissaKhaos 170 Posted December 22, 2012 Yep I did fine, I'm still sleepy from the anesthesia but I'm happy that I haven't had any discomfort eating today!
