Saw this and thought they were neat ideas. Although they don't have calories, etc. listed I'm sure they can be tweaked some.

But please tell which Protein powder is best. Soy Isolates are said to cause several problems. Can all Protein powders be cooked ?

It should be okay some people put Protein powder it in their coffee.

I would ask your Nut.

I was told to look for high Protein, low carb ones like.

Premier Protein

Pure protein

Myoplex light

Lean body

High protein ensure etc.

Our assignment was to read the labels.

I call those Protein curds. :) I ruined many things with Protein curds.

I have found if you add them to hot foods then it works better bit you still get them. I got tired of trying to be creative with my shakes and just bought some RTD premiere protein and just swig it as best I can.

Unjury Protein Powder has instructions not to put it in liquids over 140 degrees so maybe this will apply to all Protein powders.< /p>

I start every day with Protein hot cocoa, but you do have to watch the temp and warm it up slowly. I warm a cup of unsweetened almond milk in the microwave, add a scoop of chocolate Protein Powder and 2T unsweetened cocoa and a dash of salt (cuts the artificial sweetener flavor), and mix very well with a whisk. Sometimes I thin it a bit with some hot Water, or microwave it a few seconds longer to warm it up, but it will thicken a lot if you get it too hot - the Protein "firms" up (like cooking an egg).

You can actually use this tendency to cook to your advantage - there are a lot of recipes "out there" for protein "cake" or "muffins" or even "cookies" made with protein powder and often eggs, other liquids, sweetener, etc. cooked in a minute or two in the microwave.

Some flavors of protein powder are really good added to plain greek yogurt - I like the nectar Twisted cherry this way. Or, blend with almond milk and ice cubes to make a kind of soft serve ice cream.

I've always been told the best protein is whey protein isolate - it's best digested by your body so you get the most benefit from it, but it's also the most expensive, so for cheaper brands you'll often find a blend of whey protein isolate and whey protein concentrate.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
