Dr decided to give me "Ketorolac" and Lorazapam seeing that the morphine didn't glad that this combination worked I'm feeling great #I know this is a bit of T.M.I.but I can't seem to "pass gas" my Dr keeps telling me that I have to, its just not happening...' oh well now I'm just waiting to be released by my Dr because I'm ready to go home now!

I was sleeved on the 18 th too! Congrats to u!!! I haven't passed any gas either. Had a few small burps but that was it. My pain has been more from gas and the bad headache I got from the morphine. They ended up giving me toradol and that helped much better than the morphine. Have u had any trouble keeping stuff down? I had 3 baby spoon worth of vanilla chobani yogurt when I got home and it slide right back up. I'm supposed to be doing all liquids and that includes Greek yogurt without bit of fruit in it; low fat cream Soups strained; sugar free pudding and jello... nothing feels good once I swallow. Wondering if my sleeve is still too swollen to handle anything other than liquids. I think I'm calling the nutritionist tomorrow just to check. I don't want to lose muscle mass or hair. Oh and have you tried gas x strips or chewables? I chewed up 2 today and it seemed to help get stuff moving. No gas out but it did help with a small bm. Tmi but hope it helps! Keep in touch. Love finding all these sleeve sisters!

I was sleeved on December 20th! This is a good thread, since we're all around the same time and in the same boat!

I was sleeved on the 20th. Going for my first dr appt this afternoon. It will be the first time I am driving and out and about by myself. I am getting in more liquid than required and feeling pretty good, just feel a little weak sometimes. Is this normal?

I was also sleeved the 20th and at my first appt. I am still pretty weak also! I was getting ready and kept having to take breaks! It's been the first time though that I have felt like that. I have gotten out pretty much everyday since surgery and it wasn't this bad.

Dang it, I'm definitely a slow loser. I have only lost 15 pounds since Dec 18th, when I was sleeved. Oh well. 15 is more than none. I'm heading to the doc tomorrow. Glad to have this mini group to check in with.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
