What do others think about "the Sonoma diet" as a structured eating plan for after weight loss? Before anyone gets on me with " it's another diet", etc, I am actually *looking* for a structured eating plan that is wholesome and will help me maintain my current weight for the rest of my life. Yes, I can now make good food choices and have fairly decent will power. Yet I am always learning and would like feedback from others on this particular plan as a means to maintain for long term. I do have a good exercise plan that involves running for 45 minutes every 3 days (my body thanks me for the rest), lifting every 2 days and filling the other days with cross fit exercise like elliptical. My exercise and energy levels would benefit with something like the "Sonoma Diet." Now I still eat heavy Protein, low carb and low fat - a lot like Atkins, but it won't work long term ( for me).

I've been spending a lot of time thinking about my long term diet. Right now I'm sold on eliminating all wheat from my diet permanently. I've been off wheat for two weeks and my joint pain has vanished so I'm sold! I'm not necessarily looking to be "low carb" forever just no wheat and minimal starchy carbs.

I haven't googled that particular plan yet. I do know I have to avoid the white, refined processed foods. So things like lollies, breads, baked goods etc will be on my try to avoid list.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
