That does sound a bit harder than mine, but at least it is only a few weeks. You should be able to do handle it.

I'm also on January 14. My doc is John Feng and my surgery is at El Camino Hospital in Mountain View, CA. I have Medifast to eat starting on 1/1 and then Clear liquids start 48 hours prior. I've lost 10 lbs. since my 1st appt with Dr. Feng in March of this year. I just hope my liver shrinks enough so he doesn't push my date back. I'm really nervous about that. I also like the Premiere Protein shakes so that's what I'm sticking with. Also, I have had a cold for about a week now. I hope that doesn't set me back too.

I'm looking forward to this journey! My kids are scared so they ask lots of questions. Bless their little hearts. I keep telling myself that it will be hard but it will be worth it.

I have a cold also.... I am glad I got it now and not later. It is one of those colds that I can't get rid of. I follow the forum "E-Waiting Room". It is really making me mentally prepared for post surgery. People are posting up until they are getting their IV and as soon as they are able to post. Some people post a summary of their pre and post op experience in the hospital.

I am so worried about post surgery :).

Hi I am 4 months out and I had a wonderful recovery. I didn't need pain meds when I got home. I had no nausea or vomiting.. I made sure I walked right away and rested when I needed to.

At first it is hard to sleep on your side or stomach .. but When I finally was able to sleep on my side what I found out that helped me was put a pillow between my legs and use a smaller(thinner) pillow to support my stomach.

Ask them to show you how to get out of bed. They showed me and it helped out alot....

Good luck and ill save you a seat on the losers bench ....

Alliecat, thanks so much for the tips. Right now...I am a big ball of emotions. At times, I feel confident with my decision and my surgeon then I am so worried about post op pain and my new eating habits. I want to be successful and meet my weight loss goals but I have to admit I am nervous and just ready to get it over :(

Hakuna we all started that way nervous, anxious and scared. Listen to your body. . I am still learning what my stomach can handle in taste and quantity...

Just follow your doctors instructions and follow his plans...

Your stomach will be very sensitive and swollen for awhile.. you probably will not be able to drink or eat very much...

Good luck....

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
