JUST NOT LOSING :(

Recommended Posts

Today I am one month post-op and have only lost 17 pounds. !4 of that was lost in the first 14 days after surgery so in the last 2.5 weeks i have only lost 3 pounds. It is very discouraging as little as I am eating. Just dont know what to do.

Walk at least 30mins a day don't rest on bed for more than 8hrs if you feel exhausted just sit straight on the couch for some time don't loose your confidence you can do it !!!!!

If you look around the forums you'll see lots of posts referencing the "week 3 stall" where it's not uncommon for the body to just go WTF and stop losing weight for a couple weeks while it sorts everything that's happened out. During my stall I put on a couple pounds even though I was eating about 600 calories a day (and I weigh over 300). Sounds to me like what you're experiencing is normal, so don't worry, it'll pass.

Just keep doing what your doing... Your doing fine. Your body is losing inches right now. I always say, sit back and enjoy the ride...The weight will come off. Oh, and keep your diet low carb with lots of Protein. :)

i know how you feel. I was doing great and went back for my post-op 4 weeks and 2 1/2 months and hadn't lost anything :(. It was very disheartening but I know I am losing inches and doing the right things. I have decreased my carbs to see if that is the problem. Just stay strong. Your body is adjusting to new way of living and just needs time. Good luck on the road to better health.

What does your diet, Water consumption and exercise look like? What times of the day are you eating? How many carbs are you eating? How many grams of Protein are you eating daily? What is your starting BMI and weight? All these questions are designed to identify possible areas to improve in.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
