Even if it wasn't for the surgery it is a good thing to get your sleep apnea diagnosed and treated. I am thinking you must have been diagnosed with it at the first study and that is why you need to go back. The second study they determine the airpressure you need with the cpap machine. I am hoping to be able to get rid of mine after the surgery but getting it and using it have made a big difference in how I can function.

I thought it was a huge waste of money and a stupid hoop to jump thru, I had to do two and my sleep apnea was so minor the tech said I didn't really need the machine unless I wanted it. So I didn't take it but I am a huge advocate of the cpap machine. I had a close, overweight friend pass away and they suspect she stopped breathing in the night. My husband wears one and loves it! He can't sleep without it. I learned from his experience that if you have sleep apnea and don't wear your cpap at night it can cause your heart to enlarge, it then can't pump blood and you can die, have a stoke, etc...So if you have it, please wear it! If the sleep tech told me I needed it I would have taken it but didn't want to take it for the heck of it!

my sleep study showed that I had apnea while sleeping on my back...well I DONT sleep on my back...so I thought no problem... BUT they will not do surgery until you get a clearance from your sleep study dr. my suggestion is to rent the machine..not purchase, because after enough weight loss you will probably not need it. They are going to check me again in 6 months. IT IS WORTH IT... good luck

I actually got a big benefit from the sleep study. For a few years I had bad Migraines and my body was always hurting. I have ms, so I just chalked it up to that. After the sleep study the found out I have moderate sleep apnea and fibromyalgia. Got me in anti inflammatory meds for the fibro and stated using a cpap. Not one headache in almost three months.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
