Surgery tomorrow! Dec 19th!

Recommended Posts

I am having surgery tomorrow and have been excited up till today. Now I am soooo scared! I am mostly scared of being the "exception" and not losing weight. I am 4'9, 219. Lost just 5 pounds on the pre-op diet ( but it was just 5days long) so weighted 224 last Thursday and I feel as if I should be weighing less.

Overall I am so ready for this weight to come off. I am way too short for this!

Congrats, I'm getting sleeved tomorrow also. Don't be scared, you WILL lose weight, just don't freak out if you go into a stall. They are normal. Even if you just lose an average of 2-3 lbs. a week that is a good, healthy rate and it will stay off and is more than most people will lose without the surgery. Slow and steady wins the race :) Good luck, and hope you have a quick and smooth recovery.

Good luck! You will do just fine. The weight will come off, just remember it is one tool in your toolbox for weightloss. Follow the guidelines your medical team gives you for food, Vitamins and exercise and you will be amazed at how the weight comes off. Breathe, once you get to the hospital, you're busy, then you get a mild sedative and you're relaxed. Taken into the OR and the next thing you remember is waking up in recovery! Sending good thoughts and positive energy your way.

Thanks to both!

I know men loose faster then women so I'm thinking I should weigh myself weekly oppose to daily. I don't want to get depressed if I don't lose one day.

Ok so tomorrow is my day too. I had a 5 day pre-op diet and only lost 5 ponds too. Things are real right now. Today All day at work I was doing my research on VSG. I'm home now and just so all over the place. I know that this is going to be good for me. Ever woman in my family is over weight. I mean BIG. I'm too young to have all this weight on me 5'7'' 265. Just want to live and not worry about my weight and my health. I don't have health issues now, but it is bounds to happen if I don't help myself. Good thoughts and prayers for everyone tomorrow! Monaie

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
