Who else is waiting on approval?

Recommended Posts

Hello guys, hope you're having a fantastic week. If some of you are in my exact situation "waiting for insurance approval" lets find comfort in each other and share our story... My paper were submitted to Cigna last Wednesday 12/12/12 and yesterday the surgeons coordinator called to request a Diet History that the insurance company is asking for... I think is a good sign ... What do you think??

I got approval in 3 days from Preferred One. My surgery is 12-31-12. Happy new year to me. Hopefully, your insurance won't take too much longer. Hang in there!

Did they tell you why you got denied? i'm so scared of getting denied, although I've done everything I've been asked. My paperwork was only submitted on the 18th I believe, so I've got to wait, I'm sure, especially since the holiday is coming up.

I was submitted last week, but they omitted my PCP's medical clearance because what they got from him wasn't what they needed. Cigna batted it right back for that very reason, per the coordinator. It took a little coordination on my part and a couple of days, but I finally got the two offices in sync and it got FULLY submitted yesterday (12/19).

Well since I will be going through a military hospital, they do not go through the insurance. However I am waiting for the surgeon to call me with a date. I have done everything that was asked and hoping for them to call me soon with a Jan date!

I was denied because Cigna said that my doctor didn't provide enough support stating that the sleeve would reverse my hyperlipidemia. So I asked my dr to fax another letter to my bariatric lady stating that the sleeve would help reverse it. My bmi is 36, so I have to have that comorbidity to qualify. So, we'll see....

Have been denied 3 times... Starting on my 2nd level appeal now. Along with starting open ticket with insurance corporate consumer affairs because of the clerical errors from the insurance and issues with the insurance not correcting them and honoring my requests and giving me definitions for their denial basis, etc. a big ole mess

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
